Feel It to Heal It: Why Emotional Wellbeing Matters

We all feel things deeply—joy, anger, pride, sadness. But in the rush of daily life, it’s easy to push feelings aside or ignore them altogether. This October, Willows invites you to engage your feelings—not to fix them, but to understand them. Because tuning into your emotions is a powerful way to support your total wellbeing.

What does it mean to truly engage your feelings?

It’s about noticing, naming, and being curious about what you feel. This isn’t about overthinking or judging yourself. Instead, it’s a gentle pause to ask, “What’s going on for me right now?”

Building this small habit can help you respond rather than react, build self-awareness, strengthen relationships, and support both your mental and physical wellbeing. Think of emotions as messengers, not problems—they offer clues about what matters to you.

It’s also okay if you don’t always know what you feel straight away. Emotions can be layered, confusing, or even conflicting. That’s normal. With time and practice, checking in with yourself becomes easier. Just like with physical exercise, consistency counts more than intensity.

Why do feelings matter for total wellbeing?

Your emotions affect more than just your mood. They shape how you move, eat, sleep, and connect. Ignored feelings can build up as stress, fatigue, or tension. But engaged feelings can support resilience, rest, and motivation.

At Willows, we see emotional health as part of total wellbeing. That’s why our programmes and coaches create space for reflection. Whether it’s during Small Group Personal Training (SGPT) or in the calm of our infrared sauna, you’ll find moments to reconnect with yourself.

Sometimes, members tell us they feel better just by showing up. That’s because physical movement often unlocks emotional release. Your body holds a lot. A gentle stretch, a mindful breath, or even a sweaty group workout can shift more than muscles.

Here are some ways to engage your feelings today:

  • Label it: Pause for 10 seconds. Name what you feel. No judgment
  • Move it: Use a workout, walk, or stretch to shift stuck emotions.
  • Write it: Jot down a few lines each day. Try “Today I felt… because…”
  • Share it: Talk to a coach or a trusted friend.
  • Scan it: Use your Bodymapp body scan to check in with physical cues.
  • Breathe it: Try 3 slow belly breaths to centre yourself before your next decision.

Every emotion belongs

There are no ‘bad’ emotions. Anger, sadness, fear—all have a place. They can point us to unmet needs or areas where we care deeply. When we allow space for all emotions, not just the comfortable ones, we grow in empathy and strength.

Emotional engagement is not about fixing yourself. It’s about being honest with yourself. From there, change becomes possible, without pressure or shame.

Whether you need movement, calm, or community, Willows is here. Join a group class, try SGPT, or explore the sauna space. Not sure where to start? Give us a call or pop in and have a chat to our friendly reception staff.

Feelings aren’t flaws; they’re part of being human. And you don’t have to go it alone. Your community is here.

Warm regards,
